Cites JGR’s Deep Commitment to Working Families and Strong Labor Standards

The NYC District Council of Carpenters represents tens of thousands of skilled tradespeople across the five boroughs and is a leading voice for fair wages, strong labor standards, and equitable economic development. Their endorsement signals growing labor support behind González-Rojas’ campaign and her vision for an economy that works for everyone, not just the well-connected.

“Jessica González-Rojas’ track record shows that she's not only an advocate for change, but consistently organizes and delivers real results,” said NYC District Council of Carpenters Executive Secretary-Treasurer Paul Capurso. “She will be a relentless champion for her district and a powerful force for the kind of bold, effective leadership Albany urgently needs.”

González-Rojas has built her campaign on a foundation of collaboration, accountability, and delivering tangible results for her community from advancing worker protections and expanding access to affordable housing, to fighting for healthcare equity and investing in the next generation of New Yorkers.

“I’m deeply honored to have the support of the New York City District Council of Carpenters workers who literally build our city and power our economy every day,” said Jessica González-Rojas, Democrat for State Senate. “This campaign is about bringing people together to deliver real progress for our communities. I will always stand shoulder to shoulder with working families to ensure every New Yorker has access to good-paying union jobs, safe workplaces, and a future they can count on.”

New York City District Council of Carpenters joins a growing coalition of labor and community supporters rallying behind González-Rojas’ campaign as momentum builds in the race for State Senate District 13. Carpenter’s endorsement adds to the growing labor coalition supporting González-Rojas’ campaign which includes 1199SEIU, HTC, Unite Here Local 100 and 32BJ reflecting the importance of organized labor in shaping the future of working families in Queens.

With this support, González-Rojas’ campaign continues to build a broad, grassroots coalition rooted in collaboration, inclusion, and results. Joining a rapidly expanding movement of support for JGR from esteemed leaders like Congress Members Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Nydia Velasquez; Public Advocate Jumaane Williams; Queens Borough President Donovan Richards; State Senator Jabari Brisport; Assembly Members Catalina Cruz, Steven Raga, Claire Valdez, Andrew Hevesi, Khaleel Anderson, Emily Gallagher and Phara Souffrant Forrest; City Council Members Shekar Krishnan, Tiffany Cabán, Linda Lee, Julie Won, Jennifer Gutierrez, Chi Ossé, Alexa Avíles, Sandy Nurse and Shahana Hanif; former Assembly Member Jeffrion Aubry; and progressive organizations like the Working Families Party, Make the Road Action, and Sunrise Movement NYC; among many, many others.
